Organic Dried Sour Cherries also known as "dwarf" or "tart" cherries, originated from Turkey. They have less sugar content than sweet cherries and have a more acidic taste, as the name implies. Our Organic Sour Cherries are of Prunus Cerasus variety and are pitted.
Nutritional Value
Since our Unsweetened Sour Cherries are unsulfured and contain no oil or additives, their beneficial nutrients are fully intact. They are bloomed with beta-carotene, fiber, calcium, and iron. Sour cherries are rich in antioxidants and vitamins such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin C.
Common ways to use Sour Cherries in cooking
Dried Sour Cherries with no sugar added are famous ingredients of many desserts; home bakers add them to pies, cakes, cookies, and pancakes. Once prepared they usually taste sweeter. You may add pitted sour cherries to your smoothies, compotes, ice cream, or turn them into a jam or sorbet. In addition to the above, you may try to create a sauce for meat dishes, as they will lend a tangy taste to chicken or pork. Also, this product is a perfect snack on its own between your meals. Add them to a DIY trail mix, granola, or drop a few into your yogurt or oatmeal. Despite sour cherries being tasty they will also keep you energetic and not hungry during the day.
To preserve the longest shelf life, do not forget to store sour cherries in bulk in a cool dry place, protected from sunlight.
